CUSD VOLUNTEER POLICY UPDATE

The following message went out on September 10, 2008 at 4:00 PM on our Connect Ed. Telephone system:

This is Julie Hatchel, CCO for the Capistrano Unified School District with an important message about our new volunteer policy.  As of December 1st, volunteers who work at schools on a regular basis, or who have direct contact with students, will need to meet new requirements which include fingerprinting and TB clearance.

Information regarding the volunteer policy can be found on our district website at www.capousd.org under letter "V" of the A-Z directory, or you can pick up information at your schools.

We would like to thank the 2000 volunteers who have already taken time to meet this new criteria.  If you haven't done so, we encourage you to start the process without delay, as it can take up to 60 days for fingerprint clearance.

Ensuring the safety of students is a primary concern of our trustees, superintendent, and staff and we thank you for understanding and abiding by the requirements of our new volunteer policy.

DISTRICT URGES THAT EMERGENCY/STUDENT INFORMATION CARD DATA BE KEPT UP-TO-DATE

Emergency cards are sent home at the beginning of the school year to be filled out and returned immediately. A local contact person to call should be listed on the card in case the school is unable to reach parents. If a child becomes ill or injured at school, the parent(s) will be contacted promptly. It is extremely important that these cards be kept current. Please contact the school during the school year with any changes needed.

For additional information on safety please click here.
